You need to account for elevation by choosing stronger clubs to reach the higher altitudes and weaker clubs to avoid overshooting the low altitude holes. You can choose out of 10+ clubs for your range. You can decide how you want to hit the ball (curving, high/low shots, power spins). By that, I mean the game provides you with more factors to consider than just wind. Regardless of the fantasy atmosphere, I wanted a golf game that had more "complicated" courses. I've heard mixed reviews of it and fantasy golf isn't really my thing, Would you say it's worth buying? Also, when CPU is thinking really hard on tough shots, the framerate also suffers. The CPU can be a little dumb at times when it tries to be too smart and ends up on some island it can't get out of. Cutscenes show a noticeable decrease in framerate. There are also some glitches in the game. But, it hasn't gotten so tough that it seems unfair. It's with all the other nuances with the game: wind, elevation, reading the green on putts. The problem isn't with the motion control at all. There are times when you basically have to pull out all the stops to either draw or win. It must've been all of my practice swings and wind/height adjustments.Īnother thing is the AI. The CPU is obviously faster than me at taking a shot. I played one 6-hole course against the CPU and I think it took almost an hour or so to beat him without even realizing it. One thing that's pretty troublesome (or addictive?) is the seemingly long play times. Even though we didn't have all the characters available at the time, we had a blast trying to mess up everyone's now superb swinging.Īs for the single player modes, the game seems pretty in-depth. So, the multiplayer part turned out to be more fun than we thought. But, one of the things I noticed about super swing golf was that twisting your whole body through the swing gives you more pangya shots than just moving your arms. We all ended up either beating or matching my brother's use of the button interface. It felt so satisfying to keep hitting straight shots consistently on drives and chip shots and know it was because of your actual whole body actions instead of some eye/finger reflex. Within an hour, everyone started going pangya crazy against each other. It got to a point where all of us could hit max power pangya shots more consistently than my brother, who kept sticking with the "sliding bar" button interface. Everyone started to make adjustments in their swinging motions and how they held the wiimote. Now, when everyone did a practice swing, they would look at the screen to see what would've happened. That realization of how the "practice swing" was supposed to help changed everything. The predictive text and indicators that appeared in the game UI disappears within 2 seconds. Everybody was looking at the goofball doing the swing, not the screen.Ģ. It was so hard to notice before because.ġ. Suddenly, my brother noticed something no one noticed before.Įvery time I did a practice swing, the UI would flash text and indicators that seemed to let me know how my swing would've affected the ball had I actually hit it. I almost gave up hope on the game's "intuitive" swing interface until I decided to try the "practice swing" a few more times out of frustration. It lacked so many details, it was useless. Suffice it to say, he was beating us badly. We did the practice swing motions a few times, wondered how the heck it helped anything, and then decided to skip the whole "practice" idea.Įventually, it got to a point where my brother decided to switch to the button interface, while the rest of us stuck to the swing interface.
